The difference between the Quality of Presence and Focus

by Sylvie Olivier
“Metro-Boulot-Dodo” is known as the daily grind.

Right now, the planet seems to be vibrating at a frenetic pace, with a multitude of events following one another, creating constant and growing stress for most people.

Do you feel like you’re always running out of time and stuck in the daily grind?

Perhaps you’re trying to convince yourself that every minute of every hour of every day has to be productive in order to make the most of that famous time and maximize the human experience….

The hustle and bustle of everyday life can sometimes leave us feeling exhausted and tired. You may even wonder why you feel this way. Whatever the case, it’s possible to live differently.

Our lives in general are inundated with countless distractions, and it can sometimes be difficult to stay present to what’s happening in the moment. No matter what you’re doing, you’re always present to something.

So we ask you this question:

What are you present to in your life?
  • Do you choose to be present to lack: lack of money, lack of love, lack of health, lack of opportunity?
  • Or do you choose instead to be present to Abundance: health, friendship, love, money?

Do you allow yourself to be overwhelmed from all sides?

OR

Do you remain in your Quality of Presence?

To make sure we’re on the same wavelength, let’s take a deeper look at the meaning of Quality of Presence.

Quality of Presence

Quality of Presence means:

  • Connecting with a sense of calm, fluidity and lightness.
  • Seeing everything around us with clarity, ease and grace.
  • Using Theta brainwaves for creativity.
  • Accessing the renewable, unlimited energy of our heart.
  • Connecting to our vital energy at all times.

This state of being gives us access to a 360-degree window to welcome all the resources and opportunities available to us.

That said, the Quality of Presence is rarely taught to us in this way. Instead, we’re taught “focus”.

Focus

Focus means:

  • Focusing our attention on a single subject at a time.
  • Stimulating mental and physical contractions.
  • Using Beta brainwaves to analyze.
  • Draining our vital energy.
  • Living in an energy of survival.

This state of being gives us access to 1 or 2 degrees at a time, and closes us off to resources and opportunities outside this focal point.

Whether at school, at home or at work, “focus” is widely taught as a means of achieving goals. However, as a society, we now have the opportunity to explore another avenue by putting our attention on the whole of our Life, freeing ourselves from unconscious attachment to survival patterns.

Suggested Exercise

Every morning, we invite you to take a moment to truly connect with your Quality of Presence.

  • Take a deep breath in through your nose.
  • Breathe out through your mouth.
  • Place a hand on your heart.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Place the other hand on your navel.
  • Inhale through your nose, welcoming Joy, Peace and Appreciation.
  • Breathe out through your mouth, releasing worry, doubt, anxiety and stress.
  • Repeat 5 times.

This will enable you to stay connected to the Quality of Presence throughout the day, so you can complete more things in less time, and above all, in peaceful, harmonious well-being.

Then, whenever you find yourself distracted during the day, take a break by breathing deeply… you can also place a hand on your heart… or admire nature for a moment.

This short moment will serve as a reminder to reconnect to the Quality of Presence.

In Conclusion

Being distracted happens to almost all of us, the key is to become aware of it and gently return to our Quality of Presence, without judgment. Over the next few weeks, we invite you to take a moment in the morning to truly connect to your Quality of Presence, using the resources suggested in the previous exercise.

When we are connected to the Quality of Presence, we are in communion with our heart and mind, we are open to welcoming all the inspirations of the Universe and harmonizing with its natural rhythm.

When we’re fully connected to our Quality of Presence, we can “accomplish” so much more, with grace and ease and with deep Joy, rather than the stress and anxiety of trying to perform.

In short, we invite you to use the available resources that suit you best. Then watch how your interactions, your relationships and the quality of your life transform!

What tools and resources can help you align and return to Quality of Presence?

Here’s to your Quality of Presence!
