When Compassion is free from all forms of judgment—such as pity, arrogance, or feelings of superiority—it becomes a quiet power, aligned with the heart. In the West, Compassion is often mistaken for a gesture of kindness tinged with pity. It is therefore not surprising that it is often poorly received or even rejected. How many times have we witnessed this discomfort when one participant in a program received “compassion” from another—and instead of opening up, we perceived closure, frustration, or even a sense of shame?
